Officers from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) have taken over the home of the embattled former police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura in Muyenga.
This seal-off will also involve an apt check and probably to get any form of evidence to be used in court against Kayihura over the cases that include the murder of former AIGP Andrew Flex Kaweesi.
On Wednesday, the army confirmed Kayihura’s arrest before being flown to Kampala and facing the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen.David Muhoozi who had summoned him.
According to sources, the embattled IGP is now detained in Makindye army barracks along with his juniors like former Police flying squad commandant Herbert Mugangi.
It should be noted that Kayihura was sacked as IGP by President Museveni in March this year alongside then Security minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde.
According to a source, President Museveni is said to have sanctioned Kayihura’s arrest after several intelligence reports suggested that the former police chief was behind the rampant kidnaps and killings across the country.
