The Forum for Democratic Change party has called for an independent judicial commission of inquiry to be set up to investigate the 13 year tenure of former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura.
Speaking to journalists at party offices in Najjanakumbi, FDC Spokesperson Hon. Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda said its high time Kayihura paid for all the atrocities he committed.
Ssemujju added that at least three judges should be initiated to handle the hearing so that even the previous crimes including those sabotaged by Boda boda 2010 can be revived.
“The only special thing about Kayihura during his reign was his uniform, the rest he became a chief promoter of crimes, chief NRM Mobiliser and as he did all this, Mr. Museveni was there to promote him.” Ssemujju said.
Kayihura has been under arrest since last Wednesday when a military helicopter picked him from his farm at Kashagama in Lyantonde district.
Since then, the army has detained Kayihura at Makindye Barracks and has interrogated him at Mbuya military headquarters.
Others reportedly held in connection with Kayihura’s yet-to-be-revealed crimes are: Herbert Muhangi, Siraje Bakaleke and Lt Col Atwooki Ndahura.
