The ruling party’s Faith Alupo has been declared as the new Palisa district woman Member of Parliament race without elections.
Alupo who has already been congratulated by her party National Resistance Movement (FDC) became unopposed recently after the Electoral Commission Boss alternated the candidature of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change’s Achola Catherine Osupelem.
Achola who was the only one contesting against NRM’s Alupo in the race is said not being eligible to remain in the race following the complaint raised by the ruling party.
According to the letter dated 14th June signed by the chairperson Electoral commission Justice Simon Byabakama, Achola’s names nominated do not match with those that are on her academic papers something that is against the law.
Byabakama adds that Achola did not finish evidence to show there was compliance within the law when she adopted the said names during the time of registration for the National ID Card in 2015 as its stated by the commission.
Making matter worse, by the time of her disqualification, the electoral commission had closed the nomination thus leaving NRM’s Alupo unopposed.
