Mukono district Democratic Party leaders have threatened to storm Kirudu hospital, collect Hon Betty Nambooze to another safer and fully facilitated place for treatment.
According to the party spokesperson in Mukono district Nkangi Julius, accuse the police for failure to respond to their peaceful calls to release the legislator despite her poor health condition.
Relatedly, the Forum for Democratic Change Party (FDC) has also vowed to join the caravan and fight for the life of vocal leader before time runs out.
The party spokesperson Semuju Nganda, says there is nothing left to if since the government has become adamant.
This comes after Uganda Human Rights Commission advised police to release the MP before her situation goes out of hand.
Nambooze’s lawyers led by Erias Lukwago last week petitioned the Uganda Human Rights Commission seeking powers to invoke the constitution and order for her immediate release so she can fly for further medical review.
She was scheduled to fly to India for review following a spine operation in November at Manipal Hospital following the September 27 fracas during the climax of the age limit debate in parliament.
The legislator is currently detained at her sickbed at Kiruddu hospital.
However the police spokesperson Emilian Kayima has cautioned them that this won’t be a good move because police is ready for them.
