Lady Justice Jessica Naiga Ayebazibwe, of the Family Division at the High Court died in her sleep, according to family reports.
Naiga’s sudden demise was confirmed by the Judiciary’s official website on Monday evening.
“We regret to announce the sudden passing of Lady Justice Jessica Naiga Ayebazibwe, of the Family Division, a short while ago at her home in Kampala,” the tweet reads.
It has emerged that Naiga has not been sick and reportedly went shopping with her daughter before returning home at 5pm weak and tired. She reportedly went to back only for her children to try waking her up at about 8pm in vain. She had died.
Prior to her appointment in 2014, Naija served as legal officer at National Environment Management Authority since 2007. She was a graduate of law from Makerere University, and also held a post graduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre.
The mother of three began her legal career in 1992 as a legal assistant with Bazire D’bango and Co. Advocates.
She also served at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) as the revenue officer for about 10 years.
