Veteran Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) officer Maj Gen. Kasirye Gwanga has defended embattled former Uganda Police Force Inspector General Kale Kayihura.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with NTV Uganda, Kasirye said that Kayihura is an innocent man.
Kasirye added that basing on the security situation and levels of intelligence in the country, its out of absurdity for one to claim that Kayihura was the only person causing mayhem.
“I will repeat it that Kayihura is an innocent man. You all know the levels of security we have in Kampala here, the crowds and its movement both in and out, the perception of our people among others. Working in such environment is not something easy.” Kasirye.
He also said that its high time Ugandans become more vigilant on matters concerning security citing the recent murder of Arua Municipality Hon. Ibrahim Abiriga as something that would have been avoided if the community was properly coordinated with the security organizations.
“Those who killed Abiriga it is said that they were in that area for almost the whole day, but nobody was not concerned but the strangers in the area.” He said.
