Police has assured the public of security ahead of tomorrow’s local council elections.
This comes amid fears that the elections may be marred by violence since it is an open vote with voters lining up behind their preferred candidates.
According to letter by the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola, they will deploy officers at all centers, urging participants to comply with the orders.
“We have deployed standby Public Order Management Forces at strategic locations to timely respond to any forms of public disorder. We have enhanced deployment of both overt and covert Forces, deployed both static and mobile Forces to guard vital installations including offices of Electoral Commission, party offices and vulnerable places.” He stated.
He also warned anybody who will be found threatening or intimidating voters or engaging in electoral malpractice that they will be arrested and charged in courts of law.
