Police Officer Wins World Title

Special Police Constable (SPC) Ronald Odoch has brought home a World Heavy Kick Boxing Championship at the World Kickboxing Federation International Champion Title bout in Dunaújváros, Hungary.

Odoch, whose preparation was supported by the Hungarian Trade & Cultural Centre (HTCC) and Globs Magazine, rocked the WKF K-1 “Battle of Nations” beat won against Romanian, Radu Mihai Gabriel in fourth round with a technical knockout at the professional gala fight.

The 69.5 kilogram Odoch, was at the event along with other athletes from Austria, Bosnia, Uganda, Romania, Lithuania and England.

Addressing the media at the National Council of Sports headquarters in Lugogo on Saturday, the Uganda Police Director in charge Special Duties, AIGP Andrew Sorowen lauded Odoch for the pride and happiness he has brought to the force and the entire country.

“Today we are gathered here with a lot of happiness for the fact that our own SPC Odoch Ronald won the world kick boxing federation international title in category 69.5 KGS,” Sorowen said.

He added, “Now being a champion, all eyes are on you. Have focus to defend on what you have started on. Don’t go back and relax. Continue with your training, maintain discipline, don’t join wrong groups and avoid ladies, you are now a celebrity so you need to be careful.”

Uganda Police, Sorowen added takes sports as one of its objectives, saying the force has always produced quality sportsmen that have won the nation many medals with the most recent being the 4 medals won at the Common Wealth Games.
