Uganda Women National Team-Crested Cranes edged Kenya in the opening match of the 2018 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup played at the Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo on Thursday.
The Crested Cranes won 0-1 with teenager Lillian Mutuuzo scoring the goal in the 7th minute.
Mutuuzo who was born on 22nd December 2002 plays on the right wing but was a thorn to Kenya’s backline.
Gallant defending by the backline led by Yudaya Nakayenze, Shadia Nankya, Viola Namuddu and Aluka Grace (same players who faced Kenya in the AFWCON Qualifiers ealry this year) were alert for the entire game.
Tracy Akiror captained the team in the absence of Hasifah Nassuuna.
Uganda returns to action on Saturday, 21st July 2018 against Ethiopia at the Stade De Kigali.
