Kampala, 3rd August 2018: Equity Bank Uganda has moved its Head Office to the ultramodern Church house building on 34 Kampala road. The new facility, which is bigger and more accessible, will house the Bank’s Head Office as well as the Church House bank branch, with two distinct sections one for retail customers and the other for corporate customers, both located on the ground floor.

Church House is a 16-floor commercial office building situated in the heart of Kampala, directly opposite the Bank of Uganda. The new Head Office occupies three floors, signaling the growth projections that the Bank envisages in the next phase of its growth.

Equity Bank has been on a growth trajectory and currently stands at position 8 in the market by total assets. Speaking during the unveiling of the new Head Office Equity Bank Managing Director, Mr. Samuel Kirubi said, “The move symbolizes our determination to continuously

improve our offering to our people, by ensuring our products and services are accessible and convenient to them. In Church House, we shall be more accessible because we are now located in the Central Business District.”

The move to the new premises comes as the Bank marks its 10 years of operation in Uganda, since its launch in 2008. Previously, Equity Bank was headquartered in Katwe.

Equity Bank is one of the fastest growing banks in Uganda, with a large network of 33 branches, 971 Agents (Equi Duuka), 945 Pos Terminals supporting merchant banking. It is has a total asset base of UGX 1,03 Trillion making it the eighth largest bank in the country by asset size.

In 2018 the Bank rolled out digital banking giving customers the freedom to do banking anytime anywhere. Notable is the EazzyBanking App which moved a total of UGX 87 Billion by June 2018.

“Since we launched our Bank a decade ago, we have continued to grow and expand both in size and in the range of our product offerings. We see a great future with our digital banking platform because it gives customers the freedom to do their banking without any constraints of time or distance” added Mr Kirubi.

Speaking during the celebrations, Equity Group Managing Director and CEO Dr James Mwangi said “As we celebrate Equity Bank Uganda’s 10 years of success, our eyes are cast into the next ten years and beyond. We see a great opportunity for this nation to position itself for growth as envisioned in the country’s vision 2020 and beyond. As a Bank we are facing the future with a strengthened resolve and commitment. We will dedicate our efforts to enhance partnerships that will enable every citizen to become a major driver of their own destiny.
