The Gulu Magistrates court chaired by the resident Judge Stephen Mubiru has granted bail to the 33 suspects accused of treason following the Arua by-election chaos.
Some of the freed suspects is the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine, Arua Municipality MP-elect Kassiano Wadri, MPs Paul Mwiru and Gerald Karuhanga as well as former MP Mike Mabikke.
According to the Judge, their bail application was not opposed and depending on the health conditions of some of the suspects, bail would help them access better facilities like health services.
He added that since the arrest and detention have political affiliations, releasing people like newly elected Arua Municipality MP Kassiano Wadir would antagonize the ongoing investigations in the area there by directing him to stay out of Arua for 3 months.
The Court released the suspects on a Shs 5 Million non-cash bond each, while each of their sureties were placed on a Shs 10Million bond.
