Jinja East Member of Parliament Hon. Paul Mwiru one of the 33 detained and tortured opposition leaders has vowed to continue with the struggle to liberate the Pearl of Africa.
Speaking to our Insider Shortly after his release from incarceration in Gulu, Mwiru said that their arrest was a plot to harm and intimidate them.
He said that regardless of the pain, and torture faced during prison, the inspiration and need to liberate Uganda has instead intensified.
“If they think that they were torturing us to kill the revolutionary spirit in us, then they are mistaken. This is just the beginning of the struggle.” Mwiru stated.
Mwiru also said that for matters of peace and coexistence, he has forgiven president Museveni and his team that actively worked hard to see that they a brutalized over no reason.
The opposition Deputy Party spokesperson together with the 34 others were granted bail today by the Gulu High Court Resident Judge Stephen Mubiru on a 5 Million non-cash bond.
Hon. Ariko Herbert (MP), Hon. Osege A. Asio, (MP Woman Soroti) and Mr. Lubowa Henry were Paul Mwiru’s sureties and they were tasked to commit a shs. 10 million non-cash.
Among others out on bail is the Kyadondo East lawmaker Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu, Hon. Gerald Karuhanga, Hon. Paul Mwiru, Newly Elected Arua MP Kassiano Wadir among others.
