Newly elected Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Kassiano Wadri has finally taken Oath.
Wadri was sworn in this morning by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah in presences of the Parliament clerk Ms. Jane Kibirige.
Arua municipality seat went vacant following the death of Co. Ibrahim Abiriga who was brutally murdered by unknown assailants in Kawanda, a Kampala suburb.
It should be noted that Kassiano won this race in prison after he was arrested by security operatives over the mayhem that occurred on Monday night 13th August as they climaxed general open campaigns.
He polled 6,421 while his main challenger Tiperu polled 4,798 votes. Another independent candidate Robert Ejiku had 2,694 and Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Bruce Musema had 1,369 votes. Wadri was declared winner by the returning officer Ruth Angom Ococ at Arua Public School.
Kassiano is still battling with treason charges along with 32 others who include the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu, Mityana’s Francis Zaake, Jinja East’s Paul Mwiru, Ntungamo’s Gerald Karuhanga and former MP Michael Mabike among others.
