A fatal accident occurred today morning involving three motor vehicles in Mabira forest along Kampala- Jinja highway.
Sezibwa Region Police Spokeswoman C/ASP Hellen Butooto has confirmed the accident. She said one person has been confirmed dead and was identified as Kyaguma John.
Butooto attributed the cause of the accident to the driver of the numberless trailer that was coming from Jinja heading to Kampala and was speeding at the same time overtaking in the corner hence a head on collision with a Fuso reg number UAQ 591T which was loaded with maize heading to Jinja.
The injured were rushed to Kawolo hospital for first aid and they have been identified as Michael Odoyi 25 year a resident of Mpumudde, Jinja and the driver of the Fuso , Hajji Nsamba Abudallah the driver of the trailer resident of Namawojolo trading center and Mwasse Almazani the driver of the taata truck.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kawolo hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Helen Butoto has however cautioned drivers against over speeding noting that the Police will punish whoever will be got and also urged members of the public to report any acts of road indiscipline
