Lubaga South County MP Kato Lubwama says he is the one who inspired Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Bobi Wine into joining politics and that he is ready to support him in case he goes for President Yoweri Museveni’s seat.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Kato Lubwama, a comedian-cum politician said that his successful parliamentary bid inspired the likes of fellow artiste Bobi Wine to join politics.
Lubwama who beat CP’s veteran politician John Ken Lukyamuzi for Lubaga South Constituency in 2016 general election. said that Bobi Wine after winning Kyadondo East seat has become a famous opposition figure who carries hopes of some Ugandans who wish to see change of government.
“I am the one who inspired Bobi Wine into joining politics. Although, I am not interested in the big seat but I am ready to help anyone eyeing the president’s seat,” Lubwama said.
Before joining politics, Lubwama was a comedian whose work station was national theatre rehearsing local comedy skits. He is/was also a presenter at CBS, Buganda kingdom owned radio station.
“The tension is still there, people are living in uncertainty because of the political climate in the country. People are looking at Bobi Wine someone branded like them and they have a lot of hope in him,” he said.
Bobi Wine on Thursday returned to the country after spending about 3weeks in US where he was flown for ‘specialized treatment’ after he was allegedly beaten by security officers during his arrest in Arua Municipality by-election fracas last month.
