Museveni Gifts Uganda Cranes with 200m Ahead of Lesotho Game

The President of Uganda has appreciated the Uganda Cranes team for their effort in uplifting the Uganda flag in the sports sector hence gifting them with UGX 200 million  as they head to Lesotho for their Africa Cup of Nations encounter next Tuesday.

During a meeting at state house yesterday evening,President Yoweri Museveni congratulated them for their recent achievements, including their participation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

“I watched some of their games in Gabon but noticed their shots were lacking in power. However, i was impressed by the fact that you managed to take us back to AFCON” he said.

Much more, the president has urged the managers and trainers to focus on the diet of the players so as to increase their strength and emerge as victors in the next competitions.

“I hope the managers can do something about the diet and training to ensure the players are stronger, like the late David Otii was,” he said.

Museveni also promised the team that government will charter a plane to Maseru ahead of their AFCON 2019 tie against Lesotho on October 16.

Museveni  adds that he has a lot of hope in the cranes and promised each player a ‘presidential handshake’ if they win the competitions.

“I hope the team maintains their top spot and qualifies for the 2019 championship in Cameroon. Each player will also receive a token of appreciation” he prayed and promised.

The team has been training ahead of the Saturday and Tuesday games. Cranes Play Lesotho this Saturday at Namboole before the return leg.
