Officials from the Uganda Police Force have failed to convince Members of Parliament on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, on the state of expenditures highlighted in the Auditor General’s Report of the financial years (FY) 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
MPs on the committee have queried the expenditures that do not seem to tally with the proposed budgets for the given financial years, citing some expenditures that are more than the money allocated to them, thus causing budget arrears.
Uganda Police Force Accounting Officer Rogers Muhirwa, attributed most of the arrears highlighted in the report, to insufficient budget allocation to utilities including rent, telecommunication, water and electricity.
The officers and officials from the Uganda Police Force meeting the Committee have been led by the Director Criminal Investigations and Crime Intelligence (CID) AIGP Grace Akullo, alongside other high ranking police officers.
The MPs have given the team 90 days to present the pending accountability documents to duly explain the queries raised in the report, before it can be put to rest.
