As the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party runs an appeal for the victims of Bududa landslides, the Secretary General has gone back to Bukalasi this morning to assess the situation.
The party is fundraising relief items like food, clothes, household items, medical care among others which are being collected at FDC Headquarters, in Najjanankumbi Kampala or at several of its district branches to help the People of Bukalasi in Bududa by the end of this week.
According to the leaders, those with financial assistance have been requested to bank it on Acc. No. 3010609750* Centenary Bank Entebbe Road branch in the names of Forum for Democratic Change or mobile money numbers *0392002240 & 0703703568 in the same party names.
Bududa is known among the top disaster prone areas in the country but calls from government for people to relocate have always fallen on deaf ears. In 2010, over 350 people died in this area and hundreds of households were buried. The same happened in 2011 and 2012.
A big number of people remain stranded with no homes and property in this area. More bodies are expected to be found and the search and rescue teams are still digging and monitoring the river. A big number of the affected people are children.
