As the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted the Indian community in Uganda to a dinner celebrating the Hindu Festival of Lights or Diwali, at State House, Entebbe, he was able to meet famous city Business man Sudir Ruparelia.
This comes at the time when the Central bank is battling a series of probes by the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) over the illegal closure of 7 Commercial banks and among these is Crane Bank that belonged to Ruparelia Group of companies.
Sudir who attended the event together his son Rajiv Ruparelia and other famous city moguls, the head of State was able to make number of pledges including the massive commitment to crackdown corrupt officials.
“You can rest assured that the business atmosphere will keep getting better. As for corruption, it will be wiped out. We are building infrastructure to help us achieve this.” Museveni said.
He added that the government is working hard to fix the railway and water transport.
Among other officials who were around was the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Minister Chris Baryomunsi, Finance and Trade Ministers etc.
