Kyadondo East lawmaker Hon. Kyagulanyo Robert Ssentamu has joined hundreds of Ugandans to mourn the innocent souls that perished in the Saturday Lake Victoria boat accident.
Bobi Wine who made this comment in Ghana where he had gone to attend the prestigious AFRIMA awards said that the news coming from home is very sad and so hard to believe.
“I still cannot believe that we lost so many young people on that boat. My heart is heavy. I lost several personal friends in the accident and it is extremely painful.” He said adding that as we continue to pray for the families of all who lost loved ones, and for a quick recovery to those who are nursing injuries.
“Saturday night when we learnt of the tragedy, I requested my team at One Love Beach to dispatch our boats to help out with the rescue mission, and recovery of bodies. I also encourage all of us to use all our abilities to help the victims of this tragedy. We must always be united in grief as we do in times of joy. Kitalo nnyo dala!” he tearfully noted.
Following this incident the search team lead by the UPDF marine officials note that 17 more bodies have been recovered.
This So far brings the number of the dead retrieved is 30 in total. Those alive remain 26 and the operation continues. The team of divers has increased to include those from Police, UPDF Marine and Airforce.
