Mixed Reaction As Army Blocks Buganda Katikkiro Mayiga from Accessing Kooki

Renowned Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro (premier) Owek. Charles Peter Mayega has this morning been blocked from accessing Kooki County.

Katikkiro he had earlier planned visit the area and these included St Bernard SS Mannya in Rakai the recently burnt school and later proceed to popularize Emmwanyi Terimba” a coffee growing campaign.

It’s said that police and Army have surrounded Hotel Brovard in Masaka where the katikiro spent the night and had planned to set off from to access Kooki County.

Police have placed check points with all vehicles leaving or entering kooki undergoing through checking.

It should be noted that Katikkiro is not the first cultural leader to be blocked from accessing a certain part of the kingdoms he/she works for. In 2009, the King of Buganda Ronald Muteebi was denied access to Bugerere County some that was high condemned by Buganda loyalists resulting into a lot of chaos and the closure of CBS FM.

The same related incident happened the Rwenzururu Kingdom King Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere who was blocked from access Bundibugyo district. This also created a lot of mayhem in the Rwenzori region giving birth to a series of bloodshed in the area.

Currently police are locked up in a meeting with some of the Buganda officials in Masaka to forge a way forward.
