Bank of Uganda (BoU) security officers have on Tuesday been charged and remanded to Luzira Prison over negligence of duty.
The security officers; Beatrice Kyambadde and Charles Mollo were arraigned at City Hall in Kampala, charged with negligence of duty before they were remanded to Luzira Prison until December 6, 2018.
This was after the Parliamentary committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) last Thursday handed them to Police CID for failing to protect sensitive documents belonging to Bank of Uganda regarding the closure and sale of 7 banks.
COSASE probe revealed that the named security officers neglected their duties and allowed former Executive Director in charge of Supervision at Bank of Uganda (BoU) Justine Bagyenda assisted by her aides Juliet Adikot (body guard) and Job Turyahebwa (driver) to sneak into the Central Bank on 10th, February, 2018 and 14th March 2018 where they carried out bags allegedly containing documents in regards to sale of the defunct 7 banks.
Kyambadde and Mollo were in charge of security on the mentioned dates when Bagyenda and her aides sneaked out bags allegedly containing documents without going through the checkpoints. Adikot and Turyahebwa are also expected to appear before court.
