President Uhuru Kenyatta has this afternoon broken ground for the 83.3MW Olkaria 1 Additional Unit 6 Geothermal Power Plant scheduled for completion in 2021.
KenGen currently has an installed energy capacity of 1,631MW, with 534MW of this total being geothermal.
Speaking to the country, President assured that his administration will continue to invest in the generation and distribution of clean energy until there is 100% connectivity across the country.
He added that every Kenyan has a right to reliable and affordable power.
The President noted that the only way the country will achieve the #Big4Agenda, is if there is adequate supply of electricity to all sectors adding that Kenya will not only deepen the use of renewable energy to achieve this, but will also strive to ensure that all the energy is clean.
