Museveni Praises Prof. Nawangwe For Disciplining Makerere Students

The president of Uganda H.E Yoweri Museveni has PRAISED the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe for improving the discipline of the students, staff and non teaching staff.

While addressing the 69th Congregation of Makerere University
The President of the Republic of Uganda and statutory Visitor of Makerere University, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said that Nawangwe has managed to discipline students and reduce on the number of strikes.

“I want to congratulate Prof. Nawangwe and his team upon being decisive on disciplining students, lecturers and other staff in Makerere,” he said.

Museveni also applauded Nawangwe for disciplining lecturers involved in sex for marks scandals. According to the president, he says that these lecturers do not deserve a second chance at all.

“A lecturer caught on camera in immorality and sexually harassing a student can’t stay in a top university, ” said a bitter Museveni.

Museveni adds that lecturers should however stop striking because he is going to actively ensure that their salaries are increased and that they they are paid on time.
