Presidential advisor on media affairs Tamale Mirundi has asked Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe to slowdown the pace of making decisions.
Speaking while appearing on Top Radio talk show hosted by seasoned journalist Steven Dunston Busulwa on Monday night, Tamale said that regardless of the availability of the authority and support from top officials, there is always need to calculate your moves before acting citing that there is no reason as to why one should treat his workmates like his “shamba” boys.
Tamale added the same way former KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi rammed into trouble after serving Mafias, Nawangwe will soon get sacked after being used if he doesn’t wakeup.
He claims that there several officials are good at giving an impression as if they can lead anyone to Canaan but after achieving their goals, they leave you.
“The bad thing is that these Mafias serve their goals but not those of the president. They are always close to the every noble person who emerges and after spoiling your reputation, they leave you to die in your movie alone. I know one of them, One of always roaming in the University up and down but I won’t reveal his name on air. But putting that aside do you think Gen. David Ssejusa was evicted by Jenifer Musisi from the government house because they wanted to recover it for KCCA or just trying to find individual wars? If Nawangwe does sieve which people to ally with, he will end up leaving that place unceremoniously.”
These comments come days after the Vice Chancellor sacked over 40 university employees over what he described as insubordination.
Among the suspended is Dr. Deus Kamunyu Muhwezi, the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) chairperson and other top officials.
However this move has thrown the Ivory Tower in a crisis as the remaining lecturers have decided to go on a sit-down strike till their colleagues are reinstated.
