The Uganda People’s Defence Air Force and SFC militants have joined the rest of the UPDF to give back to the community under the theme ” UPDF and the People: Consolidating Peace for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”.
The Army week is celebrated annually and is the time when the UPDF gives back
to the community for their support and good working relationship.
Normally the
Forces engage in cleaning the dirty places, renovate schools, hospitals, markets
in different areas and offer free medication to the civilians among other
activities.
This year UPDAF and SFC are involved in cleaning and
medication.
Today they cleaned Kigungu, Kitoro, Entebbe Central Market, kituburu and other
places in Entebbe which needed attention in terms of hygiene. On 5th Feb, the
Forces are expected to offer free medical services
which will be held in two camps of; Leisure park in Kitoro and Nkumba Playground.
The Director Personnel and Administration Col Rebecca Mpagi asked the soldiers to work with passion while cleaning as a way of giving back to the community.
She further emphasized that the bond between UPDF and civilians has been so good and started right away from the day NRA captured power ” This is why we win different battles as UPDF, our secret is working well with the civilians, we can’t work minus the civilians as our name states, The People’s Defence Force that clearly shows we are here to work closely with the people” said Col Mpagi.
She called upon the people to always remember where they came from, that’s when
they will know where they are heading.
Col. Mpora of SFC said that the medical activities and cleaning are to strengthen the relationship between civilians and the Army.
“As we offer these activities, we do appreciate wanainchi and we shall always be there for the general development of Uganda including peace and security” said Col Mpora.
He encouraged the community to come for free medication. “When the people are hygienically fine the nation is fine” He stressed.
