Nigerian celebrated singer David Adedeji Adeleke alias Davido has gone against odds and attacked his home government for crippling the rise and progress of the youth.
Speaking in a series of tweets, Davido notes that government has worked tooth and nail to see that musicians and other performing arts personalities are kicked out of politics.
He wonders how long government shall keep on belittling them and warning them to stay away from politics yet they are also nationals.
“Aren’t we Entertainers tired of people telling us to stay out of politics because it’s dangerous? Are we still gonna be listening to them for years to come?” Davido asked.
He noted that are so powerful and therefore they have a right to know how their country is being run.
Aren’t we Entertainers tired of pple telling us to stay out of politics because it’s dangerous. are we still gonna be listening to them for years to come ?!WE ARE POWERFUL AND THEY KNOW ME I FULL GROUND! ITS IUR COUNTRY AND ITS OUR BUSINESS ABOUT HOW ‘OUR’ country is being run?— Davido (@iam_Davido) February 10, 2019
These comment follows the step by some of the musicians deciding to join politics and instead fetching a lot of backlash from the government over their moves.
Among these is popular musician and actor, Olubankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W who announced that he will be running for the position of House of Representatives in the 2019 general election.
It should be noted that the same discussion has hit Uganda something that has even forced government under the ministry of Gender and Labour to craft bill aimed at regulating musicians. According to this bill, No musician shall be allowed to perform a broad, record or shoot a video without governments permission.
