Traffic along Salama road has been interrupted following the arrest of the Makindye West Member of Parliament Hon. Allan Ssewanyana.
The lawmaker was forcefully dragged into the police car over allegations of leading a protest against the deteriorating hygiene situation at the government owned Kiruddu Hospital.
According to residents, for months, they have been complaining about the sewage that flows from the facility and its stench.
Before his arrest, Ssewanyana complained that over 3 billion shillings was approved to rehabilitate the hospital’s sewerage line but clearly no work has been done.
Ssewanyana’s supporters tried to prevent police from arresting the vocal legislator but were overpowered.
He is now detained at Central Police Station in Kampala.
