Usuk County MP Peter Ogwang last week came face to face with death after a trailer lost control and rammed into the vehicle he was travelling in around Spear Motors in Nakawa.
Ogwang, also parliamentary commissioner revealed the hair-raising experience on Friday on the floor of Parliament. Ogwang narrated that it was by grace of God that he survived the car crash as the trailer lost control and crashed the parliament car he was travelling in. Unfortunately, whereas the car was damaged, Ogwang came out with any injuries, but was treated for shock.
“I almost lost my life three days ago and I want to thank God that I am here… I survived because of God’s grace. I can’t explain up to now how a trailer which lost control in jam, rammed into my car and other vehicles. The property of Parliament which is a Commissioner’s car is badly damaged. I was in that car which was badly damaged, that was a miracle in my life, I thank God for my family and my friends,” Ogwang said.
Ogwang urged Uganda Police to block all vehicles on bad mechanical condition from using city traffic roads. Recently, an old Tata vehicle rammed into other cars in jam around Kira Police Road killing and injuring scores.
“What is the role of traffic police in managing these kinds of cars? The mandatory vehicle testing and inspection must come back,” he said.
Having survived a road accident, Ogwang over the weekend flew to his Usuk Constituency in a presidential chopper.
