President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has this evening appointed Jamil Ssenyonjo as the new Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director.
This comes only six months after the temporary appointment of Eng. Andrew Kitaka who replaced Ms. Jennifer Musisi who resigned over what she described as unreconcilable differences at city Hall.
Mr Ssenyonjo has been the acting Assistant commissioner in charge of Uganda Revenue Authority’s public and corporate affairs.
It’s not clear what led to Kitaka being relieved of his duties instead of his confirmation, however President Museveni has been very critical of KCCA of recent, for the first time criticized Mrs Musisi publicly for wasting billions of shillings in her seven years at KCCA, in paying salaries, instead of changing Kampala face.
Museveni vowed to reduce wages paid to KCCA staff.
However unlike the different complains heighted several Muslims claiming that government is using Christians to Fight, Kampala City Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, today’s appointment that came on Iddi evening might be aimed at bridging the gap.
It should be noted that Jamil is not the first Uganda Revenue Authority to be appointed at KCCA with the most recent one being Jennifer Musisi was also a commissioner at the Nakawa based tax agency before being appointed KCCA ED.
