The Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre and captain Denis Onyango addressed the media at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday morning.
This was during the official press conference prior to the group A encounter against Zimbabwe.
Desabre told the media that the team is focused and concentrated towards the game with Zimbabwe having picked maximum points in the opener against DR Congo.
‘We are focused and concentrated for the Zimbabwe game on Wednesday. The win we registered against DR Congo now means for nothing. We need maximum points against Zimbabwe so that we head to the final game with Egypt when we are relaxed and already qualified. We respect Zimbabwe because they have very good individual players but we shall give it our best shot‘ Sebastien Desabre remarked.
Goalkeeper and team captain Denis Onyango was equally positive heading to the game. Onyango however warned against complacency.
‘Personally, I will admit that I know most of the Zimbabwe players. I have played with some of them in the same clubs and majority play in the PSL. We are set and determined to face Zimbabwe. There is no need to underrate them because they have quality players‘ Denis Onyango stated.
Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes will conduct their final training session on Tuesday night at Arab Contractors’ Stadium in Cairo.
This is the third recovery session after Sunday and Monday’s sessions.
As per Tuesday morning, there were no injury concerns for the team.
Uganda Cranes lead group A with three points and two goals difference. Egypt also has three points but with one goal.
Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe have not yet picked any point.
