The Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, has formally written thanking Parliament of Uganda for hosting the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC).

Parliament of Uganda and the CPA Uganda Branch hosted the Conference, in Munyonyo, Kampala, from 22 – 29 September 2019.

“I wish to take this opportunity to pass on my sincere thanks to you and your colleagues for organising such a successful 64th CPC in Kampala,” she said in her communication addressed to the Clerk to Parliament, Ms. Jane Kibirige.

“The Conference was meticulously organized and well-prepared and I greatly appreciate all of the work and cooperation that went in to its planning and execution,” she added.

The CPC was held under the theme: ‘Adaption, engagement, and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth’ and addressed various issues including climate change, refugees, and the rapid urbanisation and rural decline. It attracted over 700 delegates, spouses and accompanying persons.

“Please convey my gratitude to the members of your team who also worked so hard to ensure the proceedings ran so smoothly. You all worked tirelessly in the organisation and implementation of the Conference, providing the necessary support to myself and my fellow members at all times,” Hon. Monjowa said.

A variety of delegates, spouses and accompanying persons who were in Uganda appreciated the organisation of the conference and hospitality exhibited by the hosts.

“I believe the delegates who participated in the Conference were very warmly welcomed and greatly enjoyed the topics covered throughout the week.”

The next Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference will be held in Canada.
