Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Magistrate Court yesterday remanded retired UPDF Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde to Luzira Prison on treason charges.
The Magistrate after reading him the charges said Tumukunde will reappear in the same Court on March 30, 2020.
Tumukunde appeared in Court on Wednesday afternoon and was supported to walk by his lawyers and police guards.
Earlier he was admitted at Kampala Hospital with a swelling leg after his arrest last Thursday at his Kololo office along Impala Avenue.
Some reports suggested he had collapsed in Police custody at SIU, Kireka.
The former chief spy, announced his Presidential Bid a fortnight ago and was slated to kick off his consultations but before, he appeared on different local media platforms and uttered toxic statement that landed him in jail.
While he was hosted on NBSTV, Tumukunde unequivocally asked Rwanda to help Ugandans seeking to challenge the regime.
His utterances according, to Police violate section 23 and 22 of the penal code act and attract reason charge as a punishment.
