The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda has this morning convened a meeting for the Multi-Sectoral Committee on the Corona Virus Disease (COVID 19) to review strategies and approaches used in the fight to keep the disease outside Uganda.
The committee was recently formed by H.E the President of Uganda and it is composed of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, including; Health, Tourism, Security, Works and Transport, Information and National Guidance, Kampala, Foreign Affairs, and Internal Affairs among others. The meeting was held at the New Government Building, Office of Prime Minister in Kampala.
The committee reviewed the quarantine strategy to establish whether it is actually working to protect the lives of Ugandans from contracting the COVID 19.
Ministers called for more stringent measures to guard against the disease especially at the Entebbe International Airport because there seems to be some gaps in the quarantine strategy.
PM Rugunda assured the honorable Ministers that all the ideas raised from the meeting would be tabled before the president to ensure that more robust strategies and approaches are used to protect Ugandans against the COVID 19.
The meeting was also attended by members of the private sector who are committed to supporting government in the fight against the COVD 19.
After the review meeting, a team of Ministers and some private sector representatives left for the State house in Entebbe to brief H.E The President about the outcomes of the review meeting.
