Former Electoral Commission, Dr. Eng Badru Kiggundu has been appointed the Chairperson Board of Directors, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
This comes less than two days after president splashed a huge shakeup into the commission resulting into the firing of about 10 officials.
State Minister for ICT Peter Ogwang while addressing the media said that cabinet sitting on Monday resolved to appoint Eng Kiggundu as chairperson of the Board. Eng Kiggundu replaces Dr Eng Christopher Ebal as Board chairperson whose term of office has expired.
Former EALA Speaker Dan Kidega has also been approved as a member of the NWSC Board.
Meanwhile, Minister Ogwang said that cabinet has also approved the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 that will soon be brought to Parliament for debate.
The objective of the Bill among others is to provide for additional functions of Electricity Regulatory Authority, to increase funds allocated to the authority from 0.3% to 0.7% of the revenue received from generated electrical energy. The Bill also intends to empower the Minister to prescribe the procedure for transfer of generation assets to Government.
