Speculations on the outcomes of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) seem to have come to end following the last-minute resolution.
Yesterday, CEC which is the top organ of the ruling NRM party failed to reach consensus regarding the fate of Rebecca Kadaga and Jacob Oulanyah in the speakership race but choose to communicate the outcomes today at 10:00am before the party caucus sits.
It was expected that the meeting that sat on Saturday afternoon at State House, Entebbe would determine who would become the official flag bearer for the ruling party in the speakership elections set for Monday.
However, the CEC meeting started a few minutes past lunch time but it turned heated when debate to have one choice between Kadaga and Oulanyah started.
The meeting that dragged on for many hours with no agreement reached later turned stormy as members from both sides started exchanging words something forced the National Vice Chairperson Hajji Moses Kigongo to close the meeting and pledge to communicate the resolution before the start of the party caucus.
According to the information reaching our desk, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) has decided to maintain Kamuli Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Rebecca Kadaga over the Man from Omoro Hon. Jacob Oulanyah.
It was agreed that Kadaga gets maintained basing on the fact that she represents a variety of special interest groups in the top leadership organ ranging from gender, region and unmatched experience she is bringing on board.
Oulanya is likely to serve in any other capacity that will be later communicated by the Fountain of Honor.
It should be noted that President Museveni as a key player in this race has capacity to achieve whatever he wants with any of two as the speaker so no need for rocket science in as afar determining who the head of the August House should be.
The simple logic is that Northern Uganda already has Judiciary being led by Justice Alphonso Owinyi Dollo, therefore this makes no harm with Eastern completing the equation.
Besides if we really mean what we say with affirmative action, the desire to have one woman in Kadaga amongst the host of men in the frontline power handlers of arms of Government, a vibrant Parliament is good for us all.
