Former Koboko Municipality Member of Parliament Evelyn Anite has revealed she is optimistic that President Yoweri Museveni will retain her in his next cabinet.
Citing her exceptional performance in the last five years, Anite said she is confident about bouncing back as a minister.
“When he (President Museveni) appointed me as a minister, he told me ‘I am appointing you because I believe you are incorruptible and therefore, I want to send you because I know you would make the change’. And what he said (about Uganda Investment Authority being rotten), I witnessed. It was very rotten and corrupt, “The outgoing Investment and Privatization Minister said at a function in Kampala to bid farewell to the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) board members.
“One thing I tell people is that the boss is President Museveni. My job is to make sure he’s happy. That all his wishes are delivered. So, before he fires me, I will fire you. And indeed that’s why the firing has been happening.
Anite who lost the Koboko Municipality Parliamentary seat to Dr Charles Ayume, said the people voted her out because of ignorance.
“That’s why I have survived for five years I didn’t get fired and I am very sure that I will not get fired. At least the people of Koboko fired me out of ignorance but not President Museveni because for me I deliver. If we get fired, then maybe witchcraft is real.”
President Museveni is expected to announce a new cabinet anytime soon after the ruling National Resistance Movement released a list of its members on Parliament’s appointments committee.
