The Principal of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces UPDF, Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni has today made changes in the National forces senior leadership.
These changes saw the soft-spoken Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbadi appointed as CDF of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).
Mbadi replaces Gen. David Muhoozi who was recently appointed Minister of Internal affairs.
Gen Mbadi has been serving as the deputy Chief of Defence Forces which has now been occupied by Lt. Gen Peter Elwelu.
In other Changes is Gen (rtd) Museveni also appointed his son, Lt Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new commander land forces.
Lt Gen Kainerugaba has been serving as the commander Special Forces Command (SFC).
Maj. Gen Leopold Eric Kyanda who has been serving as the UPDF Chief of Staff for Land Forces is now the Joint Chief of Staff.
Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu who has been serving as the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff has been possted to the Civil Service.
Who is Lt. Mbadi?
Born 59 years ago in Kasese district, Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi is a senior military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
He has been serving as the Deputy Chief of the Defense Forces (CDF) and Inspector General of the UPDF; a position he was appointed to in January 2017, replacing Lieutenant General Charles Angina, who became Deputy Commander of Operation Wealth Creation.
Before then, Lt. Gen. Mbadi also served as the Joint Chief of Staff of the UPDF a position he served from May 2013 until January 2017 where he was replaced by Major General Joseph Musanyufu.
He was also ADC to the President of Uganda.
