Paul Bukenya: What activities does Electoral Commission do when General Elections are concluded?

The Electoral Commission continues to perform various tasks under its constitutional mandate, which include the following:

a) Evaluation of the electoral process for 2020-2021 General Elections and publishing of the official report on the Elections;
b).Conduct of voter education on a continuous basis;
c).Training of staff for capacity building in election administration and management;
d).Organizing and conducting by-elections where vacancies may occur
e). Preparation of the programme for conduct of Administrative Units (LC 1) Elections;
f). Revising and updating the National Voters’ Register, including registration of new voters and accepting applications for transfer of voting location;
g). Review and re-organisation of polling stations;
h).Preparation of the Roadmap for 2025/2026 General Elections (preparatory activities are conducted over three Financial Years, starting 2023, with polls in Jan 2026);
i). Continuous research and development
j) Support/collaboration with other MDAs and stakeholders in democracy, governance, public administration, e.g Min of Local Gov’t, MGLSD, NIRA, Justice, etc…)
k). Respond to court petitions. ( The Courts are yet to hear and determine about 150 cases arising out of the Parliamentary and Local Gov’t Councils Elections 2021 ).

Once again, I hope this is helpful, and as usual, I will be glad to give any needed clarification, etc.
