The controversy between Kira Municipality Hon. Ssemujju Nganda and Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja stirred excitement and drama in the August house on Thursday afternoon during plenary.
This was after after Nabanja confronted Kira Municipality MP Semmujju Nganda for ‘malicious statements against her person.
It all started when Hon Semmujju raised a matter of procedure to parliament chaired by the Deputy speaker Hon. Betty Among.
Semmujju suggested to the August house that Hon Nabbanja has become sloppy in executing her business as leader of gov’t business and appears fewer times to parliament.
Nabbanja said;’‘ the leader of government business is supposed to be here leading govt business but she only slops in towards 4 pm to answer questions, leaving the former FDC Youth leader Tayebwa-Cheif whip, the procedure issue am raising is whether the Pm must not be coming to parliament here to lead her team and abandon her work to Hon Tayebwa whose job is described in the rules of procedure as mobilizing Mp’s to attend”
PM Nabbanja, offended by Semujju’s comments and sternly approached the flow to respond amidst murmurs from legislators.
Nabbanja said: “Rt Hon Speaker, I feel I should talk, When I was appointed Prime Minister SsemujjuNganda went on TV and ably claimed that I cannot even manage a garbage company. I want to ask him in front of everybody, what is it that you want from me?”
Ssemujju calmly retaliated amidst laughter from Legislators:”If the PM is focused on answering, I would not be standing here on order, But for her to suggest in the broad daylight that there is something I want from her,”
The Deputy Speaker of parliament responded: ”members this is not a market, Now Hon Semujju, the PM was raising to the matter that where you said she is never in the house, that’s why she was acting like that.”
