It has been blissful day for vocal and youthful National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and human rights lawyer James Mubiru.
Roads leading to his home were on Saturday immersed with traffic Jam as hundreds of supporters and fellow leaders flocked his house to welcome him back from the 6 months detention
Mubiru is among the National Unity Platform leaders that were rounded up and detained in different prisons as the January 2021 election tension amplified. Mubiru who was among the contestants in the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) Councilor race for Lubaga North, was not given room to vote himself but against all odds, he emerged victorious.
Among the people that visited him today is the KCCA Speaker Rt. Hon Speaker Zahara Luyirika and other councilors who shared light moments together and offered him gifts and foodstuff.
“It was a recommendable moment when my fellow leaders at the level of LC5 led by Rt. Hon Speaker Zahara Luyirika of KCCA for a courtesy visit after being incarcerated for more than 6 months at Makindye Military prison.” Mubiru could not hide the excitement.
He added, “Words and love expressed to me are of a high level and I thank you. I will not stop reminding you of our noble cause which is to get reed of dictatorship therefore we should not take these offices for luxury and boosting but for working for people and giving them hope that the dictator has not given them.”
At last give a message below to the ruling government.
“My message to them was very clear. We should not bow down to the dictator, “Daniel 3:16-27”, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not bow down to the Golden Image of King Nebuchadnezzar and their God saved from the fire. Let us also do not accept to be bought by money or compromise to work for this regime, let us stay firm like the 3 men in the Bible God will save us from the dictator.”
