One of the biggest events is the race of parliamentarians that put the country on edge for the last six months.
Though according to the Electoral Commission, the January 14th election was successfully conducted.
There is a huge number of contestants that never made it through the ballot but we are sure that if given chance they would have definitely put a significant mark on the quality of debate in Parliament.
Owor Paul. Busiro South would be blessed to have the youthful socialite, businessman and member of the Executive singing duo. Awor proved beyond reasonable doubt that he had better plans for the constituency but maybe it was only an issue of luck that did not strike his side.
He was battling with opponents like Pastor Peter Ssematimba, Democratic Party’s Stephen Ssekigozi, and National Unity’s Matovu Charles who emerged victorious. The bitter truth is that Paul gave a good run and will go down in the history of the constituency.
Dr. Stellah Nyanzi – (Kampala Woman MP): New in the political scenes but her role in activism turned things around. Former Makerere University senior Researcher Dr. Stella Nyanzi Nalongo brought a new thrill in the politics of Kampala. Besides the ‘Pair of buttocks’ viral case that made her popular, the strategy that rhymed and blended with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party strategy pressed her opponents on edge until the last minute.
Not because of any failures, Nyanzi did all within her means to win the hotly contest Kampala Woman MP seat but only lost not because of a strong opponent but because of the NUP wind of change spearheaded by the Ghetto gladiator. Oooh I can’t Imagine what Parliament would be with Stella Nyanzi stearing the wheel possibly as the Shadow minister for Education during this Covid-19 temporary lockdown that has seen schools closed for close to four months.
Wilberforce Sseryazi – (Entebbe Municipality ANT):you can bear with me The Alliance for National Transformation (ANTI) had the most polished people as their candidates in the 2021 general election.
We have no doubt, the party spokesperson was the best choice for Entebbe Municipality but as said by Pastor Bugembe Indeed ‘Ebintu Byamukama Bibuzabuza’, Entebbe would be blessed to have you as their area representative.
Innocent Kawooya – (Kampala Mayor): He became a CEO as early as 25, and there is no doubt the soft-spoken Kawooya (Independent) would have cleaned the mess miss in Kampala if given chance. As earlier said in his campaigns, Kampala needed someone who was going to bridge the gap between the common person and the Central government.
Being the youngest person in the race, The Hipopo boss had his race running on #DigitalizingKampala strategy that possibly would have left no on behind. One day one time, we shall see that digital city Kawooya promised.
Oscar Kasya: – (Kinkizi East): He is the young man who gave Minister Chris Baryomunsi rough days during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party elections. He pledge a youth-led strategy that diverted thousands of voters in Kingizi East until when magic was depicted as people lined up while voting something their rights of active participation.
Miles Rwamuti – (Hoima City East FDC). Though luck was on his side in January, the man from Bunyoro would have probably made recommendable contribution to the legislation. Basing on his fame, expertise in the field of communication and academic background, it would practically be insane to underrate the former Koona Ne NTV host.
Charles Mwanguhya Mpagi – (Burashya County). He is the spokes person of Tooro Kingdom and the current host of the popular NBS Frontline talk show programme steaming with over fifteen years’ experience.
Charles has a legal background, a lot of experience in public and institutional management. I can comfortably say that Burashya county a finished product, Mata Butaa!
Dixon Kagurusi Ampumuza. (Kanungu West): He has worked to so hard to make Kanungu a better place and get quality and people centered leadership in the August House but the ultimate reason of dirty politics in in Kanungu (Kinkizi West) has ended making netizens abandoned at the end of every election.
Kagurusi is a lecturer Makerere University, well-polished and extremely eloquent gentleman whose presence would have been felt in the August House in the first 7 days.
Kayemba Afayo – (Kimanya- Kabonero Masaka City) : he is the former Mayor of Masaka municipality, and there is no doubt, Kayemba would have done a tremendous work In Parliament business.
The decade he was in Masaka leadership, a lot of success was registered and everyone knows, that Kayemba did not loose because the opponent was a better choice but because he was FDC not NUP. Kimanya-Kabonero City division lost a fire brand in the 11th Parliament.
Katongole Denis Omutongole – Bbaale County: We all know how far Katongole has moved, how much he has proved that he deserve chance to lead the people of Kayunga. Its however hard to believe that luck has not always been coming his way. Even amidst the times when we all know that he is best choice, some key political players have always sidelined him to see that he doesn’t enter the August House. Don’t give-up Denis!!
Ingrid Turinawe – (Rukungiri Municipality): Sorry to say, but It would take only an insane who would downplay the efforts and capabilities of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Iron Lady. Turinawe, everyone know that Rukungiri would be sorted in hands.
One can’t even imagine how Parliament would have been with you on the antagonist side together with Betty Nambooze, Cecilia Ogwal, Dr. Stellah Nyanzi among others. ooooh, indeed we have missed a great moment in the politics of Uganda!
Vernesious Baryamureba – Ibanda Minincipality: I know the people of Ibanda also can’t imagine they never choose you in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party primaries, I’m sure they regret it! Baryamureba deserved this Municipal seat and extremely sure that he would be now doing a tremendous work on the education committee basing on the fact that institutions are now closed.
