President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has described the Uganda Tourism Board Executive Director has a woman of steel.

Museveni made this comment while presiding over the launch of the Explore Uganda campaign, aimed at promoting the Pearl of Africa to the rest of the world.

“Therefore, I am very happy with the new group headed by our daughter Ajarova. She is definitely very active. She climbed the Rwenzori up to Margherita (the Peak of Rwenzori Mountains). She climbed to the top of the mountain. I have never been there myself.” Museveni said.

He added. “So I salute that group. And you can see they are putting a lot of imagination in that they are doing. When they came to see me, I told them, what new thing are you coming to tell me? I have heard all these stories. They said, “No, we have come to tell you, the difference between visiting and exploring.” They said, with “visiting, you come and go, but with exploring, you come, you stay, you go and look.” I said, these people, they are putting a lot of concentration.”

With a lot of zeal, President also stated that the new destination brand acknowledges that given the depth and breadth of Uganda’s tourism assets, the best way to experience The Pearl of Africa is not to rush it by just visiting but rather, allowing more time to explore all the Pearls it has to offer.

“I think, as you heard her say… it (Uganda) is a very nice place, but it needed a group to talk about it…. to inform the world. From what I can see, the Ajarova Group are really determined to stand firm. To talk about. Uganda. So I congratulate the board by Daudi Migereko (Chairman) and others. I congratulate the Ministry, under Col. Rtd. Tom Butime. I was a bit skeptical about what new things they were doing (the rebranding campaign). But when they came to Nakasero (Statehouse) and they introduced the campaign, then I said, it seems these people had something new. Katubawagile. Let’s support them. With these not so few words, It is my pleasure, to launch, the brand, EXPLORE UGANDA, THE PEARL OF AFRICA.
