News reaching our desk indicates that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has set up a committee to handle the growing rifts between top leaders from Teso sub-region.
This was after the Soroti East By-election that saw leaders Captain Mike Mukula openly clash with Vice President Jesca Alupo over supremacy related issues.
Mukula who currently describes the queen from Katakwi as a ‘Green Snake in Green Grass’ wants the party to punish leaders that shun party structures amidst times when the unity is needed more.
” During this Soroti East by-election,I realized that we have internal contradiction in NRM party. I noticed that my sister H.E Jessica Alupo was working in isolation and sometimes working with the opposition ” Cap Mike Mukula
According to our insider, reveals that the continued bad blood is stirred by the desire to control resources in the just climaxed by-election in Soroti East.
“Mike Mukula being the National party Vice Chairperson, he expected to be the one controlling all the campaign money for Hon. Herbert Ariko. He is even the one who negotiated his move from opposition to the ruling but to his great surprise was when more money was instead channeled to the Vice president’s camp which he accuses for having have not done enough in the campaigns.” Our source revealed adding that Mukula also accuses Vice president for dinning with the opposition.
In a tweet made by the NRM’s Hon. David Kabanda last week, he indicated the president had first disagreed with the Vice president Alupo over the issue of joining hands with the opposition.
“On June 28th 2022 in a meeting at President Museveni’s home in Ntungamo, HE Jesica Alupo advised that NRM shouldn’t front a candidate in the Soroti By-election in favour of FDC’s Moses Attan. This was rejected by the President.” Kabanda tweeted.
However Rt. Hon. Jesca Alupo yesterday laugh off all haters saying they don’t understand the changing dynamics of politics. She said the ruling party has a role to play in winning more people from the opposition side and it’s the emergence of such tactics that NRM emerged victorious in the latest by-elections.
