West Nile put up a remarkable performance against Karamoja on Friday to send early signal in their quest for this year’s FUFA Drum tournament.
In the round of 16 game played at Greenlight Stadium, Arua, West Nile put five past hapless Karamoja thus all but sealing their spot to the group stage.
Defender Bright Vuni opened the floodgates, scoring the first goal as early as the fifth minute.
The game would eventually turn out one-sided as the hosts went on rampage, scoring goal after goal.
Midfielder Gadaffi Wahab doubled the lead in the 9th minute while Ibrahim Dada struck twice midway the opening stanza. Therefore, West Nile comfortably lead 4-0 at the break.
The icing on the cake came from Fred Amaku who netted the fifth and final goal of the day deep into stoppage time.
The two teams will face off again on 14th August at Naitakwae Sports Complex, Moroto with the winner on aggregate advancing to the next stage.
In the other game played on Friday, Kigezi and Buganda played out to a goalless draw at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
The final round of 16 games will be played on Saturday with Bunyoro hosting Acholi in Masindi while Tooro will host Rwenzori at Buhinga Stadium, Fort Portal.
