EXPLORE ELGON: Tourism Minister Martine Mugarra Commissions Mbale Courts View Hotel

The State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquates Hon. Martine Mugarra has called upon Ugandans to aggressively invest in tourism and hospitality business.

Speaking while presiding over the commissioning of Mbale Courts View Hotel in Mbale City, Eastern Uganda, Mugarra said if locals don’t invest, the foreigners will come take over the lucrative industry.

“If you sleep, foreigners are going to invest here and you will be tourists in the place where you are born.” Mugarra said adding that investing in domestic tourism fundamental because government can’t not rely only on foreigners.

He tasked locals to make good use of government incentives like for tourism facilities like Uganda Development Bank grants and small interest loans, the tax waiver on tourism appliances like tourist cars, heavy duty equipment and electronics etc.  

The commissioning of this hotel happened in the same week the Ministry of Tourism was hosteling the   #ExploreElgon campaign aims at highlighting the hidden treasures, tourism attractions, sites and activities within and around the Elgon Region.

It has also been aimed at demonstrating to the rest of the citizens that domestic tourism is critical for supporting the overall growth of the sector.

The Mbale Industrial Division Member of Parliament Hon. Karim Masaba hailed the government of Uganda for supporting the efforts geared towards supporting domestic tourism.

He said, Eastern Uganda, like many other parts of the country is gifted with different tourist attractions and that means citizens should pick interest in getting out of their comfort homes to visit and experience Uganda, their home.

The General Manager Mbale Courts View Hotel implored government to also offer more support to hotel owners like priority is given to National parks.

As described as an Oasis of Comfort and Convenience, Mbale Courts View Hotel is Located on the foot of Mt. Elgon in Mbale Town, Mbale Courts View Hotel offers classy accommodation and conferencing facilities, an onsite fine dining restaurant with a well-stocked bar, a poolside bar that offers an authentic evening relaxation venue after that exhausting day errands.

The facility has 4 conference halls on site with capacity ranging from 10 to 250 Pax depending on ones set up, 1 ultra-modern boardrooms fully equipped with the latest equipment.

The hotel currently has 58 rooms ranging from standard rooms to the presidential suite.

Hotel Security is of paramount importance, we have 24hrs CCTV Camera Surveillance as well as consistent security procedures. We also have a doctor on call 24/7 should there be a requirement.
