Singer Rema Namakula has penned down her first time experience meeting legendary musician Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool who she describes as a father.
Speaking in an exclusive interview uploaded online, the Fire tonight song bird said the maiden meeting happened several years back when she was in Primary Six.
” You know Bebe Cool has a collaboration with my aunt Halima Namakula, So I innocently backed her up in the Sambagala hitsong. At the end of the project, My voice had striked Bebe Cool and he requested to meet me, I was blown away when my aunt told me, I didn’t even get sleep that night.” Rema said adding that Bebe Cool praised her vocals and then told her to join Gagamel Crew when she is done with School.
Rema narrates that she never believed Bebe Cool’s comments because he was a big star and she was just a poor young girl, however she was shocked when Bebe went to look for her from school a few years later.
“That time I was in Senior Three towards the end of term, I saw Bebe Cool enter school with our choir trainer Mr. Ssaaka. The duo met the school management and shortly I was told to mobilize my choir mates so that we can back him up at the Agenze Concert. Agenze was the Bebe Cool’s biggest concert that year and trust me from that day, I never looked back.” She said.
Rema says that her maiden appearance opened her eyes and also ushered her into Gagamel band officially.
It took about a shorttime the Kiwatule man granted Rema Namakula a Collabo dubbed Cease and Sekkle that topped chats around the region.
From this opportunity, the singer released more songs like Oli Wange, Akaliiro, Juice Wa Mango, Fire Tonight among other hits that have made the black beauty queen unstoppable.
As we end the year 2023, hundreds of Ugandans go speechless when asked to talk about Bebe Cool’s loving and philanthropic heart that unconditionally adores and supports people regardless of their backgrounds.
In his early times of his career, ‘Bebe Banton’ aka Bebe Cool is also known for uplifting singers like Jose Chameleon, Bobi Wine and then later Irene Ntale, Edith K, Eighton and Rain, Tuff B, Chiizo, Fidemba among others.
