The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Executive Director Dr. Lilly Ajarova has said the country is fully set to give a Memorable experience to the Non Aligned Movement Summit delegates.
Over 120 countries have confirmed their availability for the long awaited conference, happening in Uganda for the first time.
The NAM main events events will take place at the Speke Resort Conference Center in Munyonyo, Kampala.
According to Ajarova, UTB has positioned and packaged different tourism products for the delegates to enjoy as they explore the Pearl of Africa both Virtually and Physically.
Among the earmarked places is Queen Elizabeth National Park that was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park but was renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by the Late Queen Elizabeth II of England.
The park is home to over 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species and it’s also understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination.
The park’s diverse ecosystems includes sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes, and fertile wetlands, making it the ideal habitat for a classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees, and over 600 bird species.
Murchison Falls National Park in Northern Uganda is another place to watch. This is the oldest and largest National Park in Uganda. The park is blessed with over 144 mammals,556 bird species,51 reptiles, and 51 Amphibians.
The other places highlighted include Bwindi impenetrable national park, The Uganda Worldlife Conservation and Education Center (UWEC), the Kampala Night life experience among others.
This long awaited summit has given an opportunity to Uganda to push for a facelift to some of the public and private facilities like roads, hotels, hospitals among others.
On Commenting about these refurbishments, Ajarova said that for example the Speke Convention Centre is a testament to Uganda’s commitment to excellence and its passion for welcoming the world!
“This state-of-the-art facility isn’t just hosting the prestigious #NAMSummitUg2024, it is also marking a new chapter for our MICE sector.” She said.
