Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party spokesperson Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has expressed outmost fears over the fate of their believed party.
Nganda says the redemption may be out of reach for the embattled political organization.
“It may not be possible to rescue FDC,” says Ssemujju, the party’s former spokesperson.
Ssemujju and other disillusioned party leaders have since abandoned the FDC, establishing a new base of operations at Katonga.
His ominous pronouncement serves as a sobering wake-up call to party loyalists, including Elias Lukwago and Dr. Kiiza Besigye, who remain steadfast in their belief that they are the rightful custodians of the FDC’s legacy.
“We all believed FDC was a good party, but Museveni has taken it over,” Ssemujju lamented. “My colleagues think they’ll fight and win that battle, I am saying you don’t will it.”
Ssemujju’s blunt assessment underscores the gravity of the situation facing the FDC, as the party grapples with an identity crisis and mounting pressure from President Museveni’s regime.
With key leaders defecting and forming splinter groups, the once-formidable opposition party finds itself at a crossroads, confronting an uncertain future fraught with internal strife and external threats.
