MTN Uganda was recently honored with the award for the Fastest Mobile Network in Uganda by Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis. This prestigious accolade was presented to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Sylvia Mulinge, at the sidelines of the esteemed Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona last week, cementing MTN Uganda’s position as a leader in telecommunications excellence.

The MWC serves as a global platform for industry leaders to showcase innovations and advancements in telecommunications. MTN Uganda’s recognition at this event further validates its position as a trailblazer in the telecommunications landscape, setting new benchmarks for mobile network performance and reliability.

The recognition comes as a testament to MTN’s relentless commitment to providing its customers with exceptional connectivity experiences. Ookla’s extensive analysis, encompassing millions of speed tests conducted with consumers across Uganda in the period Q3 and Q4 2023 – positions MTN as the undisputed leader in mobile network performance.

Commenting on the award, the CEO, MTN Uganda, said, “this award is the result of MTN’s unwavering commitment to the nation by investing and consistently upgrading the network to serve the ever growing base and evolving needs of our customers. We salute the government of Uganda for enabling a predictable investment climate and the unstoppable commitment of our team to deliver the best-in-class network for our customers. At MTN, we believe that everyone (regardless of who and where they are), deserves the benefits of a modern connected life – and that working together with government and other partners, we are unstoppable in driving the progress of our country”.

In an era where fast and reliable connectivity is paramount, MTN has consistently invested in cutting-edge infrastructure and innovative technologies to enhance network speed, coverage, and reliability. This recognition underscores MTN’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and empowering communities through seamless connectivity solutions.

MTN’s relentless pursuit of excellence has not only solidified its position as a market leader but also underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering a superior connectivity experience for customers wherever they are. Between 2020 to 2023, MTN Uganda invested US$300 million in expanding its network infrastructure throughout the country to bolster its services across this country and in line with the 2018 National Broadband Policy and Uganda’s Vision 2040 commitments.

Additionally, the company continues to develop partnerships with device manufacturers and distributors to push the affordability and access of smartphones through a number of device financing schemes. This is all aimed at MTN’s vision to deliver the benefits of a modern connected life to all its customers.

“Being recognized as the Fastest Mobile Network by Ookla is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team at MTN. We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and setting new standards in mobile network performance to meet the evolving needs of our customers.” Mulinge added.
